Overview:

"Phonemic Awareness: Cautionary Tale" is a harrowing video that portrays the utter futility of teaching phonics rules to students who lack foundational skills in phonemic awareness. It is based on one of my many students who sat through otherwise excellent classes taught by talented and creative Waldorf teachers--and learned exactly nada. But I'll let Walter put it in his own words. They were--and are--priceless.

Note: The student in this video came from a Waldorf school, but the situation described is one that is all too familiar to educators from other school systems. Just as the problem is universal, so too is the solution presented in this course.
