I am a homeschool teacher using a Waldorf homeschool language arts curriculum. In October of 2nd grade (age 7) my daughter could not decode CVC words. She only knew about 10 sight words. Thank God I found Jennifer Militzer-Kopperl and the Roadmap to Literacy. Jennifer mentored me through assessment and helped me create a curriculum complement to provide the missing pieces based on her book. Our progress has been amazing:

• By May of 2nd grade (7 months later), my daughter had learned all but four of the phonics rules in the pattern phase (just below expected grade level) and tested at grade level for sight words.
• By winter of third grade (age 8), my daughter was up to grade level/expected phase in phonics.
• In March of third grade, my daughter's reading fluency was assessed on par with the end of second grade, or the beginning of third grade. 

For us to have successfully completed First Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade language arts in 1.5 years is incredible. I am so grateful for the powerful methods and tools that Jennifer has provided to help us on this journey.
