The parts of the book used in the course include chapter 3.4 Encoding and Decoding and Section 4: Phonics Rules. Note: The 32 phonics rules (plus one review) are found in the following chapters:

• Chapter 4.1 Phonics Rules for the Phonemic Awareness Phase
• Chapter 4.2 Phonics Rules for the Pattern Phase
• Chapter 4.3 Phonics Rules for the Syllable Phase

It is not necessary to have a copy of the textbook to use this course, but it helps.
